More Sad News – 21 Jan 2020

Following our recent news of Keith Whitehead’s passing, his funeral details are: 

Friday 31st Jan 11.30am at West Herts Crematorium, then afterwards at Three Crowns Pub, 1 High Road, Bushey WD23 1EA.

The family have asked for donations to go to Cancer Relief

 

Also we are sorry to note another death in the W&D Bowling Community –  Bill Lammas of Rosedale BC – a Herts Bowls Green advisor who helped at many clubs across the County.  His funeral will be held on Mon 27th Jan 12.30pm at Enfield Crematorium, then afterwards at Rosedale Sports Club

Sad news: Joe Harper, Percy Butcher & Keith Whitehead

We are sad to begin 2020 with the following news:

Joe Harper, who played a lot of comps at W&D during his bowling years, sadly passed away on 25th Dec 2019, his funeral was on 8th Jan. Our condolences go to Debbie, his family and friends at this sad time.  Donations can be made to the British Lung Foundation in his memory.

Another W&D player, Percy Butcher (who played at Owls BC) passed on 25th Dec 2019. His funeral will be held on Fri 31st Jan at 12 noon at West Herts Crematorium , then afterwards refreshments will be at Watford Indoor BC. Our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.

We also report that Keith Whitehead (Garston BC) passed away on 9th Jan.  His funeral will be on Fri 31st Jan at 11.30 a.m. at West Herts Crematorium , then afterwards refreshments at the Three Crowns Pub, 1 High Road, Bushey WD23 1EA. The family has asked for donations to go to Cancer Relief.  Our condolences to Edna, family and friends.

Sad News – Ronnie Outrim North Watford BC & John Tierney Hemel Hempstead BC

We are sad to announce the death of Ronnie Outrim, who was a member at North Watford BC. Details of Ronnie’s funeral are as follows: it will be held on Monday 9th Dec at 12 noon, at West Herts  Crematorium.  The wake will be held at North Watford BC afterwards.

We are also sad to announce the death of John  Tierney who was a member at Hemel Hempstead Bowls Club. Details of the funeral are 2.00pm Monday 2nd December at Garston crematorium.

Sad News – Trevor Payne Abbots Langley BC.

We are sad to report that  Trevor Payne from Abbots Langley BC has  passed away, his funeral arrangements are Wednesday 13th Nov, 4 pm, at West Herts Crematorium, then afterwards at Watford IBC.  Anne has requested no black attire please, but something yellow would be preferable. 

Ray Cup & Evening League Winners; Griffin Cup Finals

Congratulations to Garston who won this season’s Ray Cup by beating Bushey in the Final at Herts BC, Watford on Sunday 21st July.

Congratulations to Harperbury on winning the Friday Evening League, narrowly beating Watford Cassio after an extra end on Friday 26th July.

Saturday Aug 3rd is the date for this year’s Griffin Cup Finals at Harperbury BC. 

Semi-Finals at 10:00 are Croxley Guild against Berkhamsted and Bushey against Gerrards CrossThe Final is scheduled for a 2.30 p.m. start

Association’s Facebook Page

The Association now has a Facebook page and members and their players  are invited to join the group, or at least view it on a regular basis, for the latest on the Association’s and its Members’ activities.

New Association President

Alan Lewington of Watford BC is the new Association President following his election at the January AGM.

He follows Kevin Clarke who will remain on the Executive involved in marketing & publicity.
