Providing top quality facilities and an enjoyable sporting environment is our raison d'etre, however, there's nothing wrong with celebrating success on the field when it comes along.

Here's some boasts from each of our clubs about what they achieved over the 2021-22 season.

European Champions!!

Just when we thought that we couldn't be more proud........
Theresa Whitmarsh gives us a precis of a magical weekend.

Having won nationals the womens lacrosse team went to Barcelona to compete in the Ken Galluccio cup (European clubs tournament) on the weekend 9th-12th September.  They had group games against Belgian and Austrian national champions. Where they won 14-0 and 12-1 respectively.

Then onto knockouts, playing the Norwegian national champions, who gave them a physical contest with at least 2 forward rolls. They won 12-5.

The semi finals were against the Czechs and this was a tough match up with a lot of their team being part of the National Czech side. They won 9-6.

The final was against Edinburgh and this was a much more free flowing game, with 10 different scorers showing the depth they've built  over this season.  The final score was19-4 and they are now European club champions.

Ending the Season as Champions of Southern England is an amazing achievement for our Ladies 2nd Team.

The fact that our Ladies 1st Team managed to better that is mind blowing!

Chair, player and all round legend Theresa Whitmarsh reports.

Having come first the in the 1st division of the South East Lacrosse women's league, Walcountain Blues ladies lacrosse 2nd team went to Northampton to play in the southern league play off game against the winner of the South West, Bristol.  We were very proud to have a mixture of some older but also a lot of juniors playing for the team on the 8th May and the experience mixed in with the fitness of the younger players mean that the game ended in a 16-5 victory.

Winning the 1st division wasn't enough, the 1st team won the premiership of the South East lacrosse women's league (which they haven't won since 2016) so they also went to Northampton on the 8th May where they were to play the winner of the northern league (Stockport) and see who would be named as national champions.  There were definitely a few nerves to start but once the team settled into their rhythm there was no stopping them.  They took control and finished with a 24-3 win making them national champions.

We mustn't forget our Mens side either. They finished 4th in the Premiership!

Old Walcountians RFC

The last five or six years has seen a flurry of silverware find its way to Clockhouse.

Having come close to promotion from county rugby ovet the three seasons previously, our First XV won the Surrey One title in 2019-20.

Unfortunately, Covid delayed our return to regional rugby and specifically London & South East Division Three. Once the action got underway though, the team showed just how talented they are by finishing fourth in the 2021-22 season.

The Second XV have also challenged at the top of their merit tables during this time with several second placed finishes in addition to developing the burgeoning talent at the club.

Cup rugby has been a particular success with several Surrey Cup, Salver and Barrell wins for both sides.
