Dave Calvert, the Chairman of the Wanderers Badminton section is also the National Junior Coach. He recently accompanied the under 15 team to the Ivory Coast. Expectations were exceeded as gold, a silver and bronze medals were brought home.
It is heartening to see an increase in new players at the Wanderers club which bodes well for the future and we look forward to seeing some of these players representing South Africa.
1988 World Champion Xiong Guobao is now a renowned coach. He was welcomed to the Wanderers badminton for a short visit when he met players, a few tips were given and a Wanderers shirt presented to him.
