Unicycling weight lifter among those to set Guinness world records

For a self-professed “extreme sports superstar” with a passion for unicycling and weightlifting, it was an obvious record to aim for.

Jason Auld, 34, a professional unicyclist from Edinburgh, secured his place in the book of Guinness World Records with the heaviest single weight (68kg) lifted by barbell overhead press while riding a unicycle.

Auld is among several Britons to feature in the new 2023 edition of the book, which contains 2,697 record achievements from Earth and space.

Others to be included were Team GB’s first British Sikh female powerlifter, Karenjeet Kaur Bains from Warwick, who beat the record for most times to squat lift her own bodyweight in one minute for a female, doing so 42 times, and Kimberly Lester who broke the record
