After collecting a sixth straight district championship last week, the girls’ basketball team from Riverview Community High School returned to game action on Monday as they resumed their run through the Division 1 state playoffs.

In the second of two regional semifinal games at Woodhaven High School, the Pirates faced a tall task in opposing a powerful Temperance Bedford team that came in ranked No. 7 in D1 with a sparkling 22-2 record on the season.

This was the second time in three years that the two teams have met in the postseason. Riverview defeated Bedford by a final of 45-44 in the same round of the playoffs in 2022 en route to an eventual appearance in the state quarterfinals.

This time, however, it was the state-ranked Kicking Mules getting some revenge as they ousted the locals from the playoffs by a final of 47-36.
