Telstars to play Mystics in elimination final

TELSTARS will bank on skipper Raka Nope to lead the club as they face Mystics in the Port Moresby Netball Association elimination finals tomorrow.
Meanwhile, minor premiers Veupunama will meet the Julienne Leka-coached Sparrows in the grand final qualifier as the winner progresses to the title decider.
Telstars assistant coach Monalisa Leka said the team was prepared to meet the brave Mystics outfit.
“We worked a lot on our attack, refining our attack. Our defence has been performing very well, though we cannot be complacent,” Leka told The National of the must-win clash at the Rita Flynn outdoor courts.
“They’ll still have to remain focused, but I think our attack in line, we really need to brush up on that tomorrow.
“I think focus this week was on that and playing our own game rather than worrying about opposition, umpires or whatever external factors.
“We will concentrate on our own control and I think we should be right, just sticking to our game plan. We’ve got a blended team at the moment in terms of experience and youth.
“Under-21 girls were promoted to the premier team this year. They’ve really been playing well. So we’ll be counting on our skipper Raka Nope to steer the team throughout the game.
“We’ve got Boio Peter with Kimberly Rawali who have been playing for a couple of seasons now.
“So we’ll be definitely banking on the experience of those to pull the team through.”
The loser of the Telstars and Mystics game will bow out of the finals race while the winner advances to face the loser of the Veupunama and Sparrows clash.
The Credit Corporation-sponsored Sparrows remain composed in defending the title but it would not be an easy run as the Margaret Opina-coached Veupunama side are also eying the throne.
