The club, which plays in the St George District Junior Rugby League, is poised to celebrate a major milestone — their 50th birthday.
Brighton Seagulls president Bruce Hartley said next year is a big occasion for the club.
"Brighton Seagulls formed in 1966 and celebrates its 50th year as a member of St George junior league this coming season," Hartley said.
"We are planning celebrations over the year for our anniversary in 2016."
Hartley said team registrations are being taken for the new season.
He said the Seagulls intend to fly high this season and the club trains and play home games at Scarborough Park.
Over the years many top players emerged from the Seagulls to play at the top level, including former St George captain Brad Mackay, Jason Stevens and Keith Galloway, all of whom played for Australia.
Hartley said the Seagulls were formed on December 20, 1965 at a meeting held at the Coronation Hall in Barden Street, Arncliffe.
He said the first annual general meeting of the club was held at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club on February 8, 1966.
