MEMBERS of Hatherleigh Badminton Club gathered to say 'bon voyage' to their founder members.

Phil and Sally Griffin started the club in November 2006, shortly after the new community centre was opened.  They are emigrating to Melbourne, Australia this week, to be closer to their son.

Members presented them with a card, homemade cake in the shape of a badminton racquet (made by Pete Rockett of Pete's Home Bake) and chocolate shuttlecock (made by Brenda Birmingham of Holly's Chocolates).

During the evening the cake was cut and members enjoyed a slice along with tea and coffee, between games.

The club continues to run on Monday evenings between 7pm and 10pm, and has grown from just three players on the first evening, to more than 20 members.
