Park Vista Community High School senior Lindsey Fein enjoyed a memorable final season while representing the girls’ bowling team.

Fein earned first place to capture the Palm Beach County bowling championship at Greenacres Bowl. She registered a total of 599 during three games in the girls’ division to win the county competition for the first time. Fein also finished 23rd in the girls’ individual state qualifier with a total of 787 during four games. The girls’ individual state qualifier featured 225 participants at Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center in Orlando.

“It just feels so great looking at how far I have come,” Fein said. “I have really put in a lot of hard work. I really wanted to do my best. Bowling has become an important part of my life and I love it.”

Fein, a team captain, has participated with the Park Vista girls’ bowling program since 10th grade. Fein, who did not have as many years of experience compared to the majority of bowlers competing at the high school level, was able to create a signature moment at the county championship.

“That was a pretty crazy day and a lot of fun,” she said. “I was focused and did not look at the score. I bowled really well and when I found out I had the highest score, it felt so amazing.”

Fein said she was motivated to begin her bowling journey because of her brother Jordan, who is an experienced bowler and is in eighth grade.

“My younger brother started bowling at a young age and I had watched him compete,” she said. “I wanted to try it and I fell in love with the sport.”

Fein grew a passion for bowling and said she improved her skills while participating in leagues at AMF Boynton Beach Lanes.

“The youth leagues are a crucial part to become a good bowler,” she said. “I just did not have the confidence and a lot of experience. I started to get comfortable and I wanted to take bowling seriously. I was able to take lessons and that really helped me. My family has been supportive with everything.”

Fein has expressed interest to continue with the sport when she attends college by participating in club bowling. She also has a passion for music and has been a member of the Park Vista band program. She enjoys playing the French horn.

The Park Vista girls’ bowling team, under the direction of coach Krystal Lamb, finished as both the district and county runner-up. They registered 10th place in the girls’ team state qualifier and reached the fourth round during the baker team tournament at the state final.

“We made a big improvement at states and there was a lot of competition,” she said. “I made some new friends and it was a great experience.”

The Park Vista boys’ bowling program was led by senior captain Nicholas Buckvar, who had a standout performance at the state final. He was the first bowler in school history to finish as the individual state runner-up. Buckvar finished fourth in the boys’ individual state qualifier with a total of 927 in four games. The state qualifier included 202 participants for the boys’ side. Buckvar won four consecutive matches during the boys individual round-of-16 tournament. He finished as the individual state runner-up after dropping his final two matches.

The Somerset Canyons girls’ bowling program, under the direction of coach Gayle Greenberg, won both the district and county championship. They also recorded sixth place in the girls’ team state qualifier and reached the fifth round during the baker team competition at the state final.

Somerset Canyons senior Charley Korb captured the girls’ individual district championship with a total of 667 during three games. She placed ninth in the girls’ individual state qualifier with a total of 853.
