RECS racked up 19 tries on their return to National Conference Rugby as the clash against the fledgling side from the North East proved a complete mismatch.

The warning signs were there from the opening minute as the home side drove downfield and skipper Mark Ashton went over.

With Recs' pace, skill and power proving too much to bear, it was 18-0 before the visitors had touched the ball.

BARLA scrum half Danny Lynch had registered a hat-trick within half an hour - and if he had not been forced from the field early in second half with a knee injury - Barry Pope's club record haul of 54-points in one game would surely have come under threat.

As it was 32 points, which included ten conversions, was not a bad start for the little playmaker.

However, overall it was hard to make a judgement on Kurt Haggerty’s youthful side, such was the gulf in class.

Plenty of players seized the opportunity to cross the whitewash, with the Knapper brothers, Andrew and Kyran, registering a hat-trick and a brace respectively.

Jonno Peers continued his impressive form from last year with a brace and Ryan Hillard appeared rapier sharp at full back – scoring one and having a hand in a raft of others – as it turned into a free-flowing exhibition.

Other tries came via Kelvin Duffy, Ryan Rogers, Ben Gravener, Chris Smith, Dave Mason and Richard Rafferty, while a rare Liam Bostock four-pointer raised plenty of smiles on the touchline.

Kyle Scott registered Peterlee’s only points in the 31st minute, but it will be steep learning curve up against this kind of opposition.

Rafferty was the smile.co.uk man of the match and Peers took the Amdec players’ award.

Underbank away on Saturday should provide a much stiffer opposition for the red, amber and blacks.
