For more than two decades, the Richmond Hill Exchange Club has hosted children-anglers at its annual fishing derby. During the

21 years the group has sponsored the event, thousands of children and their families have participated.

The crowd Saturday at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery did not top the record of 450 set last year. However, there were about 315 children fishing Saturday, Exchange Club Fishing Derby chairman Lynn Bennett said, all of whom appeared to have their eyes on winning one of the prizes up for grabs — or at least landing a big fish.

Awards were handed out for the first fish landed, the heaviest and most total pounds in two age groups.

“It was a good turnout and a great day,” Bennett said.
