Ross-on-Wye Rowing Club is one of the great success stories of the town; each year, over the August Bank Holiday, the Ross Regatta brings boat crews and spectators from all over the country.

The river has always been a major feature of the town, and the club first came into being around 1875. In those days there was a busy commercial use of the Wye and it was natural for people to make use of it for pleasure and social activities.

More than 140 years of history can be seen in the photographs that line the Club’s walls and the Club is proud that it attracts members from the entire community and welcomes many spectators.

Club President, Ian Howell, told the Ross Gazette: “It is always a pleasure to convey my greetings and good wishes to all of the competitors and supporters visiting Ross Regatta.

He added: “I am especially looking forward to hosting the President’s Olympic Lunch.”

What is going on during the Regatta weekend?

Ross Rowing Club members are always happy to welcome visitors from far and wide but particularly welcome support from local people too. They want as many local residents as possible to join them for this year’s Regatta. As well as all the incredible rowing action on the river there is even more to take part in this year at the event.
