Rochdale Riding Club Open Point Show

Date published: 06 September 2009

Horse boxes pulling onto the showground at Roch Valley Way is a familiar site during summer and spring but with autumn now upon us we sent our photographer along to the last of this season’s meetings at Rochdale & District Riding Club.

Show Secretary John Hobson kindly explained the different rings and competitions in a packed programme that included show jumping, dressage and showing. Hundreds of riders from all over the country competed for prizes, watched by dedicated helpers and supporters.

The Riding Club was founded in 1962 to provide its membership with regular competitions and excellent facilities, enabling them to compete and enjoy an equestrian lifestyle and holds a variety of events including shows, dressage, one day events and cross country, and also offers a wide variety of training.

The well organised club is also successful at national level and a team of riders will be competing in Lincoln at next weekend’s British Riding Clubs Dressage, Show Jumping and Style Jumping Championships.

Club Chairman Trevor Ripley said: “We are very much looking forward to competing at the Championships and are sending a team of 50 riders.”
