Two years ago firefighters responded to a report of a dog tied to a hydrant just blocks from the main firehouse. The malnourished pit bull they found is now “Nick Firedog,” a healthy, tail-wagging ball of energy who has become ambassador for the department. Nick became a big hit on social media after Allyse Pulliam's video was viewed more than 6 million times on our Facebook page. You can see more of Allyse's photos and video at recordonline.com/nick.

The roof system at the Kartrite Water Park, in Monticello, N.Y., was near completion as the last section was being installed. There are 42 sections that go from the roof peak to the bottom, and they are described as "pillows" that let light in while cutting down on harmful UV rays.
