Aurora volleyball earns five seed, Crestwood, Garfield and Rootstown also land in top 10

The Aurora volleyball team is chasing history, just one win from securing at least a share of its first league championship.

Wherever the Greenmen end up in the Suburban American standings, they secured a top-five seed in the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament.

Fifth-seeded Aurora was joined in the 25-team Division II East pool by No. 9 Crestwood, No. 14 Field, No. 15 Streetsboro and No. 24 Ravenna. The Red Devils have already racked up 13 wins this season, including victories over Portage Trail Conference champion Rootstown and Division I Stow-Munroe Falls. The Falcons and Rockets split their season series in Metro Athletic Conference play.

The PTC champion Rovers earned the ninth seed out of 25 teams in the Division III East pool, just ahead of 10th-seeded Garfield. Rootstown has amassed an impressive 15-3 record, including a current six-game win streak with victories in 10 of its last 11 matches. Garfield, meanwhile, is hoping to capture its third straight sectional title and has amassed 13 wins this season. Those teams were joined in Division III East by Waterloo, which garnered the 22nd seed.

Windham, in the midst of its best season in years with 14 wins and counting, earned the 11th seed out of a whopping 39 Division IV teams. Mogadore, which has also recorded double-digit wins, earned the 14th seed.

Roosevelt, the lone local member of the 37-team Division I East pool, earned the 26th seed.

Southeast, the lone local member of the 24-team Division III West pool, got the 21st seed.
