Where to swim in Berks County pools for summer 2022

There are many options to join swimming pools throughout the county and few where you can just buy a daily pass.

Berks County already logged three days with high temperatures near 90 degrees or more this week and summer is still more than two weeks away.

For those looking to cool off by splashing in area swimming pools, some of the options are below. Two more county pools closed this year, but one did reopen after renovations.

Antietam Valley Recreation & Community Center Pool: 905 Byram St., Lower Alsace Township, 610-779-5240. Apply online and use Paypal or call to make an appointment to join in person, Membership prices range from $125 for a single senior age 60 or older to $375 for a family membership, which includes up to two adults and two children. Other memberships are available.

Bally Community Pool: 415 Chestnut St., Bally, 610-845-1480. It will be open noon to 7 p.m. daily through Labor Day. Daily admission is $8 for ages 16 to 61 and $7 for children ages 5 to 15 and must be accompanied by an adult. Senior admission is $5 a day for ages 62 and older.

Boyertown Swimming Pool: Operated by the Boyertown Area YMCA, the outdoor pool is at 417 S. Madison St., Boyertown, 610-369-9622. Full privilege Greater Philadelphia YMCA members can swim for free. Individual pool memberships for non-Y members vary based on age. It costs $272 for a Boyertown family of up to four members and $340 for families living outside Boyertown. Single day passes are $10 for ages 2 to 11 and $12 ages 12 and older. Normal hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

College Manor Pool: The pool is open noon to 7 p.m. daily at 1625 Rockland St., Reading. Call 610-373-9750 for current membership rates. Lifeguard certification classes will be held June 6, 8 and 9. Ask for Don Ceresini for more information on cost and to register.

Conrad Weiser Community Pool: Open daily from noon to 7 p.m. Memberships can be purchased at the gate of the pool, 161 S. Freeman Ave., Robesonia, or online. Membership prices range from $89 for a single senior membership (age 65 and older) to a $289 family membership for two adults and up to four children.

Crestwood Swimming Pool Association: 20 Hearthstone Court, Exeter Township. Open Sunday through Friday noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Members must pay annual dues that range from $180 for a senior adult age 63 or older to $385 for a family pass. A one-time stock purchase or initiation fee also is required for new members.

Fleetwood Community Pool: 500 W. Vine St., Fleetwood, 610-944-7814. Open daily 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memberships range from $22 for one senior borough resident, age 65 or older, to $378 for a family membership for non-borough residents (includes two adults and dependent children living in the same home). Daily admission for guests is 1 to 7:30 p.m. and costs $10 per person for residents of the Fleetwood Area School District and $15 for non-residents.

French Creek Pool: Closed due to staffing shortage. It had been closed in 2021 for renovations.

Green Valley Country Club Swim Club Pool: 160 Green Valley Road, Lower Heidelberg Township, 610-678-8811. Open daily 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Membership prices range from the $145 senior individual for those age 65 and older to the $399 family rate which includes spouses and up to five children under age 21. There is an initiation fee of $50 for each adult for new memberships. No daily admission rate.

Hamburg Community Pool: 200 Franklin St., Hamburg, 610-562-5762. Open noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and noon to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Memberships range from a $5 application fee for seniors age 62 and older who live in Hamburg to $350 for a family membership for those who live outside the Hamburg School District. Daily passes are $10 for adults who live in the Hamburg School District, $8 for students 4 or older, children age 3 and younger are free, $20 for non-district resident adults and $5 for non-resident senior citizens.

Ken Grill Pool Swim Club: 730 High Blvd., Kenhorst. Memberships range from $125 for a senior, age 65 or older, stock holder to $390 for a family new stock holder membership, which includes two adults and up to four children.

Borough of Kutztown Community Pool: 171 Industrial Ave., Kutztown, 610-683-9177. Open noon to 8 p.m. through July and noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 1 through Sept. 5. Memberships range in price from free for seniors 62 or older who live in the borough to $275 for a family of non-borough residents (parents and children including high school seniors). Daily admission for Kutztown School District residents is $6 for children/students ages 3 and older and includes high school seniors and Kutztown University students with identification and $8 for adult residents. Admission for non-residents is $10 for students/children and $12 for adults.

Laurel Run Swimming Association: 3500 Willow Grove Ave., Muhlenberg Township, 610-921-3245. Open noon to 7 p.m. all days and until 10 p.m. on Wednesdays. Offers four different membership options online ranging from $100 for a senior individual over age 60 to $400 for a family (member, spouse and up to four children under age 25). The rate sheet was not updated for 2022, but the online prices are still valid.

Leesport Pool: 24 Washington St., Leesport, 610-926-5424. Open noon to 7 p.m. Memberships range from $40 for a senior, age 60 or older, borough resident to a family of four membership outside the Schuylkill Valley School District for $240. Borough residents and Schuylkill Valley School District residents get the best rates. Daily rates are $10 per child up to age 12, $15 for those age 13 to 59 and $3 for those age 60 and older. Spectator admission is $5.

Lincoln Park Swimming Association: 300 Stanford Ave., Spring Township. Open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. New member fee is $150 and then annual family membership dues are $325 and include two adults and up to five children under age 21. Single annual memberships start at $165 for those age 65 and older. New members must email info@LPpool.org to set up a time to submit registration forms and payment.

Muhlenberg Pool, most recently known as Aqua Pool Club: 401 Darby Ave., Muhlenberg Township, 484-838-0043. No answer to emails asking if they will open and voicemail is full.

The Schlegel Park Pool reopened Saturday, May 28, 2022, for the first time in two seasons. Faith Lockhart, 6, from Reading, christened the pool.(JEFF DOELP??

Schlegel Park Pool: Route 10 and Lancaster Avenue, Reading. Open noon to 7 p.m. until Aug. 7 and then noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 8 through Aug. 26. Memberships range from $75 for a single season pass for Reading residents age 62 or older and children ages 4 to 9 to $300 for a non-resident family of four pass. Daily admission is $9 for ages 4 and older, however members get priority if the pool is nearing capacity. Children 3 and younger are free with a paid adult.

Shillington Swimming Pool: Open 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Memberships are free for borough residents age 65 and older and $70 for non-resident seniors. Individual memberships are $125 for borough residents and $180 for other Gov. Mifflin School District residents. Family memberships are $185 for Shillington residents and $270 for other school district residents and include legal adult residents and dependents under age 19. Daily rates $10 per person for Shillington residents and $15 per person for other Gov. Mifflin District residents.

Shoemakersville Pool: 1003 Main St., Shoemakersville. The Shoey Pool hours are Sunday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. A single membership for those age 62 and older is $25 for Shoemakersville or Perry Township residents or $50 for those who reside outside of those municipalities. Family memberships, which include four passes, are $225 for residents and $300 for non-residents. There will be a limited number of daily passes available: guests of members are $10 for adults and $6 for those ages 4 to 17 and 62 or older; general public admission is $15 for adults 18 to 61 and $10 for ages 4 to 17 and 62 or older. Children 3 and younger are admitted free with a paid adult.

Topton Memorial Pool: 205 S. Callowhill St., Topton, has closed due to renovations that are needed.

Twin Valley Recreation Association: 5981 Morgantown Road, Caernarvon Township, 610-286-5634. The Twin Valley Pool is open noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. New members may join for $550 plus the purchase of $300 stock. Those ages 60 and older pay dues of $325.

West Reading Pool: Museum Road, West Reading, 610-374-8273 ext. 243. Open noon to 8 p.m. June 4 and 5 and then June 10 through July 31, then noon to 6:30 p.m. through Aug. 28. Memberships are available to borough residents and their guests, along with residents of Wyomissing School District, Sacred Heart students and employees of borough businesses. Prices for individual memberships range from $65 to $125 for borough residents, depending on age, and $150 to $200 for other individuals who qualify. Resident family memberships are $325 for two adults and two children under age 17. Non-resident family rate is $600. Daily rates for borough residents are $10 each and $18 each for others who qualify. (Information updated June 6)

Wilshire Pool: 3035 Van Reed Road, Spring Township. Open 12:30 to 8 p.m. daily. Memberships range from $145 for returning members age 55 and older to a new family membership for up to two adults and up to four dependent children for $475. New members must be sponsored by an existing member and are subject to membership committee approval.

Womelsdorf Pool: 41 N. Water St., Womelsdorf, 610-589-4534. Open noon to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Memberships are $85 per person for those older than 3. Family of four membership is $260. Daily admission for ages 4 and older are $12 Monday through Friday and $15 weekends and holidays. Children age 3 and younger are free when accompanied by a paid adult.

Wyomissing Pool: 22 Reading Blvd., Wyomissing, 610-223-3899. Open noon to 8 p.m. June 4 to Aug. 21 and noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. Memberships range from $120 for an individual aged 60 or older who lives in the borough to $430 for a borough family consisting of two adults and six children.

Wyomissing Hills Swimming Association: 58 Valley Road, Wyomissing. There are no residency requirements. Memberships range in price from single senior at $120 to family for $350. Stock purchase of $100 is required for all but senior and student memberships. Email questions to info@wyomissinghillspool.com.
