Spotlight on bowling

- with Terry Maccallum

Bowling is a popular pastime across Courier country and beyond. Clockwise, from the top left, we feature several bowling events.

The two teams which met in the finals of the Hunter Cup, played at the Broughty, Castle Green in 1971 were back row – from Fairfield Bowling Club – C. Ross; W. Wilkie; W. Robertson and J. Stephen. In the front row are Maryfield Bowling Club, from left, J.P. Addison, W. Fraser, A. Lumsden, and R.A.S Crockett.

Next we have Prince Charles trying his hand at bowling at the Garioch Indoor Bowling Club in 1995, watched by club president Gordon Henderson.

Dundee Indoor Bowling Rink was a busy place in February 1979 with the Women’s National Championships holding the stage.

Finally, some of the partially-sighted bowlers in action at Lochee Bowling Club, Dundee, during the Scottish Bowling for the Blind competition in August 1991.

Do any of these photographs bring back memories? If so, we’d love to hear them. Please email craige@thecourier.co.uk
