New kit means young footballers can walk onto the pitch in style
A FOOTBALL club in Portsmouth will be looking to score goals and rise to the top of the table in style thanks to a new strip courtesy of recent sponsor easyNetworks, writes Joshua Bailey.
On match days this season, Fleur De Lys Football Club’s under 15 Nelson team will be donning a dark blue and black kit, complete with an orange splash which presents their new sponsor, IT and telecommunications provider, easyNetwork.
The company got in touch with the club with a desire to do something positive for their community – and the youngsters are loving their new kit.
‘One of our engineers told us that the team was looking for sponsorship, and we were delighted to step forward,’ said easyNetworks’ Managing Director Richard Gwilliam. ‘I have always felt local businesses need to offer support outside their own corporate communities whenever possible and seeing these young people take pride in their new kit is tremendously satisfying.’
The newly kitted team capped off celebrations at Drayton Park, Cosham on Sunday, September 8, with a 4-3 win over Whiteley Wanderers Youth U15 Black, as they start the season unbeaten.
‘Fleur De Lys FC is more than just a football club,’ said the team’s manager, Paul Urry.
‘It’s a community, a family and we strive to produce well rounded, healthy young people, so contributions from local businesses such as easyNetworks are greatly appreciated and a big part of our success.’
The club has provided a place for local youth to play football for more than 50 years and currently have teams ranging from as young as three, right up to under 18 level.
In 2015 Fleur De Lys FC was recognised for its commitment to providing an inclusive, safe atmosphere as it was voted as the FA Charter Standard Club Of The Year.
