Young Rail stars shine in triples

Several of Ashford Rail’s young and promising bowlers were in action in the club triples competitio­n on Saturday. Two of the teams won five out of their six games to progress through to finals day on Sunday, September 6. The winning teams were Ashleigh Minter, 12, Sean Farmer and Charlie Holdaway and 11-year-old Amy Ellis-Ingleton, Steve Miles and Gordon Samson. Hamstreet lost 79-62 in a mixed friendly against Charing. They won one rink, with E. Ford, Dot Servante and A. Bailey winning 18-13. The club’s ladies lost 27-24 in a two-triples contest against Tenterden. D. Rossington skipped the best winning rink, 14-10, which also included S. Richards and J. Vincer. Hamstreet won all rinks in another mixed friendly, beating Headcorn 86-35. D. Duke, H. Ford and skip P. Brabon were the best rink performers, winning 25-8.
