Erin sparkles brightest as Diamonds impress
A number of gymnasts from Diamonds GC have had a busy few weeks in various competitions and enjoyed high levels of success. The brightest star was Erin McLachlan (16), who was selected to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Invitational Competition in Perth, Scotland.
This was a warm up competition for the Commonwealth Games later this year and involved gymnasts from Bermuda, India, Isle of Man, Malaysia, Malta, Northern Ireland and Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Scottish team.
McLachlan put in her best competition performance to date and helped Scotland to the gold medal in the team event.
She also won the silver medal in the all-round competition, qualifying for all four event finals.
In the finals, McLachlan produced solid performances and earned additional medals, taking the bronze medal on bars and silver medal on floor as well as a fourth place on vault and a fifth place on beam.
McLachlan is now waiting to find out if she has done enough to secure her selection for the 2014 Commonwealth Games which take place in Glasgow between July 23 and August 3.
Sandra Gawel ( 16) and Hannah Fitzgibbon (11) represented the Halifax club at the British Acrobatic Championships.
