PENYBONT Football Club belonged to Llangynwyd Rangers last Saturday after the Llan Siro youngsters gained an emphatic cup victory over Llangeinor, writes Tony Poole.

Coaches Andrew Davies, Nigel Goodridge and Mark Powys were delighted with a fine allround team performance.

And an added bonus was the swagger that the young Rangers displayed during an entertaining final.

Basically, they never looked back after taking a 10th-minute lead through Lloyd Freeman.

That settled them down and it wasn’t long before a cool finish from Charlie Davies doubled the lead.

Though chances were then missed, they struck again in the approach to half time with Charlie Davies once more the scorer.

And it was a case of all over bar the shouting once it became 4-0 early in the second half - Freeman collecting another goal.

A superb passage of play midway through the half ended in Llan Siro fans saluting Charlie Davies for completing a fine hat-trick.

Though facing a fivegoal deficit, Llangeinor refused to throw in the towel – and didn’t concede again until final knockings.

Rio Davies completed the scoring late on to round off a productive day for Llan Rangers at the Bridgend super club.
