Leander day on the river
BURTON Leander Rowing Club hosted a recreational rowing day, with Leicester RC and Nottingham RC joining them on the River Trent.
With 28 rowers and five coxes making up two eights and three fours, the rowers gently rowed six kilometres upstream and past the Riverside Inn at Branston, then back down river to the clubhouse before the afternoon racing.
The rowers formed six scratch fours and held a series of round-robin races over 250 metres on the stretch of water outside the clubhouse.
The winning boat was a mixed crew of two Leander and two Leicester rowers.
The day was organised by Mike Wilcox of Leander, Anne Hock of Leicester and Richard Willans of Nottingham and sponsored by Creative Wear and Embroidery.
