One of the oldest clubs in Port Moresby Netball Association competition, Telstars, is proud to see its junior players advancing to play in the premier division.

Telstars U-21 coach Toka Aua was over the clouds after her team’s 25-22 win over Snax Mermaids and their U-13’s 11-5 win over Credit Corporation Sparrows in the grand finals at the Rita Flynn outside courts on Saturday.

“Telstars as a club prides itself in junior player development and a lot of our U-21 players play in our premier tier division,” said Aua.

“This gives them (players) a good stepping stone and it is a morale boost for players to compete at the junior level and be part of the senior team.”

Aua said the club is excited with the achievements of the players in the junior division and they are looking forward to next season.

Aua described the game against Mermaids in the U-21 grand final as strong and physical match. It was entertaining to see both teams filtered with PNG Pepes upcoming stars.

“To have these players clashing out on the court gives us a good indication of where netball is heading. It was a tough and physical match,” Aua said.
