Beaten at Bramhall

A promising, positive warm up with a strong line-up and welcoming drizzle. The stage was set to turn the tide of disappointing early season form. Initial stages of the contest suggested a positive outcome for Sale. The yellow wave was threatening in attack and strong in defence. Stockport remained a threat and when the otherwise excellent JF experienced a FIFA glitch, Sale were down to 10. A member of the Stockport team kindly joined the sideline party but Sale capitulated in the following 5 minutes. 0-1. Sam expressed his discontent vehemently. Half time and Sale were confident this could be turned around. Stockport had other ideas and despite strong play by Kiwi and Sam, 2 further goals sneaked in. Pressure from Sale led to a converted penalty corner with Brian slotting home. Strong play from Sale but the deficit could not be recovered. Huw made a late play for DOD with a green for a spectacular diving foul. Stockport rounded off with a fourth. This defeat was tricky to take with the inquest suggesting a change in formation could help. Morale remains high and performance in the majority is strong. Like making love, the moving parts will surely come together soon and we’ll be sweaty and happy. At the moment however we remain frustrated.
