.

This was a good win against a strong opposition and in the end it was Hampton's defence and more clinicial finishing that proved the difference. It's the usual story that everyone played well but there were some stand out performances from the Coltart Bros and Flanker Nick Powell who had a "Studt like game" and tackled everything.
Second Rows Ben Hopkinson and Sean Taylor were excellent with Ben putting real pressure on their line out and both of them were very prominent in the loose. Our Front Row of Glam (Sam Evans) Ed Allison and Adam Shotka had the better of their older and bigger oppo and made sure their scrum ball was often untidy. Tom Alexander had another good game at 6 and No 8 Hugh Brown was excellent as always and made a number of trade marks big carries.
We had another exciting back line led by Max and Frank at 9 and 10. New Boy Greg was at 12 with Charlie at 13 and Jack and Nick on the Wings. Sam Flaxman covered Full Back in the absence of Paddy and was great value! It was obvious that he can't kick but boy can he run! and turned defence into attack on several occasions. Winger Jack Palmer had another good game incuding one outstanding bit of defence when he chased back to stop a certain try. Sub Sean Thompson showed some classy skills and was always a threat when he got the ball.
This was a good game and it was a shame that it proved to be a bit frustrating for both Teams due to the number of penalties.
