Cambridge University Modern Pentathlon Club has been training pentathletes and defending the University’s colours since 1958, providing generations of students with lifelong memories of Cambridge sport.

Every day of the week, in the pool or on the track, students of all ages train to be part of one of the Varsity teams (9 men’s and 9 women’s) and compete against Oxford in Tonbridge School in April. Despite most students having practised previously only one or two of the five sports (running, swimming, shooting, fencing and horse riding), the club has shown over the past years that it could rapidly shape competitive athletes. Members of the club compete successfully at BUCS (British University and College Sports), national ranking competitions and GB national championships in Pentathlon and Tetrathlon.

Training for five sports can be expensive, and to keep this sport accessible to all, the club relies on donations from its Old Blues community. Students subscriptions and University’s and sponsors’ grants covers the hire of facilities and coaching costs. But donations make it possible for the club to invest in more riding training, masterclasses and safer and better equipment.

Your regular support ensures that more and more students can take part in the Club’s future successes.
