Featuring ninjas, dragons, mystical snakes and elemental powers,  Lego’s popular Ninjago toy line comes to life at the new Ninjago Training Camp at  Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville.

The attraction, which opened March 14, adds another themed option for Lego enthusiasts to experience, including a laser maze and a whack-a-mole style ninja speed and accuracy performance test. Ninjago fans can also take a quiz to see which Ninja character – Lloyd, Jay, Kai, Zane and Cole  – they are most like. There’s also a building component and photo stand-in where little faces have the opportunity to snap a picture as Kai, the red ninja.

“We’re one of the first to offer this expanded Training Camp experience and hands-on stations to our visitors and think this will be a really popular part of the attraction,” said David Gilmore, general manager of Legoland Discover Center.

Inside the Ninjago laser maze, kids can sharpen their Spinjitzu (a fictional martial arts technique) skills, jumping, rolling and ducking through red and green lasers in a dark, cave-like room. With Ninja-themed music and voice prompts, it’s full-immersion into the popular Ninjago world, which has spawned its own TV show on the Cartoon Network, Nintendo 3DS games, and a feature film is due out September 2016.

The  Ninjago Training Camp will be open through the end of 2015. It is housed in a rotating exhibit space – to the left of Merlin’s Apprentice Ride – that will feature a different installation each year.

In addition to the Ninjago attraction there are two amusement park rides, lots of hands-on building, a 4-D movie theater that shows a mix of shorts (we saw a “Chima” flick), a play structure and Miniland, a room filled with iconic Boston landmarks – Fenway Park, Faneuil Hall, Zakim Bridge, made out of Lego bricks.
