Surreal Meal: Pablo Grill-casso Greeting Card Picasso Art Parody

$5.50

“Surreal Meal: Pablo Grill-casso” is a food parody of Pablo Picasso’s painting “Pierrot and Harlequin”. The subjects are grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. The back of the card says:

Surreal Meal: Pablo Grill-casso

Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a pioneer of Cubism during the early 1900s, exploring multiple views of subject matter. Picasso also explored dream space during the surrealist period in the 1920s, not fully joining the movement. Picasso’s exploratory work in Cubism and future evolution created new avenues for more progressive art movements of the 20th century.

Picasso’s 1920 painting, Pierrot and Harlequin (1920), is used to create this visual parody, referencing Paul Cezanne’s Pierrot and Harlequin (1888).

“The world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do? Pablo Picasso
