Gunn sophomore Allison Lee, with her badminton teammate Francesca Corbett of Hillsdale, helped the United States win the team competition at the XXIX Pan Am Junior Championships 2021 in Acapulco, Mexico on Saturday.

The U.S. recorded a 3-0 win over Brazil in the championship match.

The Americans went undefeated in six matches, outscoring their opponents 24-2 along the way.

Lee joined forces with Ryan Ma to beat Brazil’s Marcos Ryan Santos Sousa and Julia Viana Vieira 22-20 and 21-16.

In boys singles, Don Averia beat Brazil’s Deivid Silva, 21-14, 21-14, and in girls singles, Natalie Chi topped Juliana Viana Vieira 21-7, 21-17, reversing an earlier decision.

The individual events of the XXIX Pan Am Junior Championships 2021 begin on Monday.

Lee and Corbett each finished 4-0.

USA team members included Lee, Corbett, Chi, Ma, Don Henley Averia, Bhaavya S Manikonda, Joshua Yang and Joshua Yuan.
