Multnomah Athletic Club names 27 high school sophomores as Scholar Athletes

Twenty-seven high school sophomores from throughout the Portland metropolitan area have been honored as Scholar Athletes by the

.

They were chosen by administrators and student leaders in each school and recognized at a recent banquet at the MAC. All are honor students and star athletes who received memberships that entitle them to full use of the club's facilities for the remainder of their high school careers. Upon graduation, they will be given $1,500 from the

toward tuition at a college of their choice. The program began in 1971 to recognize scholar athletes in Portland and has since expanded to 27 high schools in all three counties.

Washington County students receiving scholarships include Alexa Mull, Aloha High School; Justin Barker, Beaverton High School; Eric Williams of Beaverton, Jesuit High School; Camille Phillips of Tigard, St. Mary's Academy; Cody Burchfield, Southridge High School; Madeleine Fey, Sunset High School; and Dominique Keel, Westview High School.
