Keen competition in Offaly Juvenile Athletics event in Athlone

TULLAMORE

Competitors from Tullamore Harriers who took part in Sunday's events

ON Sunday last all roads led to Athlone for the Offaly Juvenile Athletics Indoor event and what a wonderful occasion it was.
Over 150 young athletes from clubs all around the county, Tullamore, Birr, Ballyskenach, Ferbane and Edenderry were involved in the many competitions throughout the day and they performed extremely well, doing themselves and their clubs proud.
The programme of events provided something for everyone with events ranging from 60m sprints to 1,000m races, shot putt and the ever popular long jump.
The event culminated with the relay races and the atmosphere at this stage of the evening was truly electric. These fantastic young athletes went home tired and proud having given a wonderful account of their athletic ability and showing super sporting attitudes, courage and a great sense of fun all day long.
