Yacht club members took over Huntington Harbour April 14 in celebration of the yacht club’s opening day.
A boat parade down the harbor kicked off the day’s festivities, as members sailed their vessels past the club to a traditional gun salute that greeted each boat with a yacht club officer on board.
Huntington Harbour Yacht Club, which was created in 1965, celebrates the start of the boating season similar to how clubs back east reopen from the winter closure. The only difference is the club never closes.
Following the parade, the club’s officers for the year are announced, and awards were handed out to club members.
