Banwell Bowls Club had a mixed week with only one win in three fixtures.

They fell to an 86-56 defeat against Prattens in a mixed friendly, losing on all four rinks.

But they got the better of Nailsea in the first of two over-60 triples league matches, claiming 14 of the 20 points on offer after a 98-94 triumph.

The second match with Yatton was also close, but Banwell went down 98-95 and only took five points.

The Tony Hyde Memorial Shield competition was an all-day triples loosely based on Australian rules.

Christine Hyde donated the trophy in memory of her late husband, recognised as the best lead at the club.

And Mal Laycock, Martina Garfield and John Rickery came out on top in the final after a close contest with Harry Woodards, Shawn White and Mike House.
