Congrats to Loreto: 2023 Champion of Champions in Dun Laoghaire Bowls Club Tournament!

[NORTH KILDARE, IRELAND - 16 July 2023] - North Kildare Bowls Club is ecstatic to announce that Loreto has achieved a remarkable victory as the 2023 Champion of Champions in a prestigious tournament arranged by Dun Laoghaire Bowls Club. The tournament, which attracted the Club Champions from Clubs all over Ireland, witnessed Loreto's exceptional skills and determination as she claimed her well-deserved title.

Loreto's journey to the Champion of Champions triumph began in September 2022 when she secured the position of our lady champion during the fiercely contested club championships. Her outstanding performance in that competition earned her the opportunity to represent our club in the highly anticipated Dun Laoghaire Bowls Club Champion of Champions event.

The stakes were high as Loreto faced off against top-notch competitors from various clubs. In her first match, she showcased her prowess against Terry McCarthy of Greenhills Bowls Club and emerged victorious. Undeterred by the challenges, Loreto triumphed once again, defeating Rita Saunders from our very own organizing club, Dun Laoghaire Bowls Club, to secure her place in the Semi Finals.

The Semi Final showdown saw Loreto face Anne O'Herlihy of Leinster Bowls Club. Her determination and skill shone through, leading her to a resounding victory, setting the stage for the ultimate face-off in the Final.

In the Final, Loreto's unwavering focus and talent were on full display as she went head-to-head against Patricia Ryan of Ierne Bowls Club. With tenacity and grace, Loretta claimed victory, securing the title of Champion of Champions for 2023. This remarkable achievement marks a momentous milestone for both Loretta and North Kildare Bowls Club.

Notably, Loreto's triumph also holds a special place in the club's history, as she becomes the first-ever major competition winner for North Kildare Bowls Club. Her achievement is a testament to her dedication, passion, and hard work, inspiring all members of the club and the bowling community at large.

In response to her victory, Loreto expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support she received from all the members of North Kildare Bowls Club. Their unwavering encouragement and camaraderie undoubtedly played a crucial role in her success, making this victory even more meaningful.

North Kildare Bowls Club extends its warmest congratulations to Loreto, celebrating her remarkable achievement as the 2023 Champion of Champions. Her outstanding performance, determination, and sportsmanship have brought immense pride and joy to the club and its members.

Also Joe Fitzsimons from Meath won the Men’s Cup. This is the first time the Competition was won by Two Clubs from outside Dublin.

The North Kildare Bowls Club: A Safe Haven for Retirees in a Post-Covid Lockdown

As the world continues to navigate the aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdowns, many retirees are looking for safe and healthy ways to stay active and engaged with their community. The North Kildare Bowls Club offers just that, providing a welcoming and well-maintained environment for retirees to come together outdoors, stay active, and make new friends.

Established just five years ago, the North Kildare Bowls Club has quickly become a staple of the local community. Its beautiful green and well-maintained facilities provide the perfect setting for league play, tournaments, and social events. But the club is more than just a place to play bowls – it's a community where retirees can come together and build lasting relationships.

One of the club's most active members, Billy Kennedy, has been a member since the opening of the club. He said, "After being cooped up for so long during the pandemic, I was eager to get out and stay active. The North Kildare Bowls Club provided me with the perfect opportunity to do just that. The club's facilities are top-notch, and the community of members is welcoming and friendly."

The North Kildare Bowls Club is more than just a place to play bowls. It's a community where retirees can come together, stay active, and make new friends. The club's Public Relations Officer, Johann Taljaard, said "We're proud to offer this service to the retirees in our community, and we're always looking for new members to join us."

The club's facilities are not just restricted to retirees, it welcomes players of all ages and abilities. The club also provides an opportunity for families to bond over the sport, and to create lasting memories together.

North Kildare Bowls Club also plays an important role in the community, by partnering with local organisations. This helps to reach potential members who may not be aware of the club or the sport of lawn bowls.

The club's dedication to the community extends beyond providing a place for retirees to stay active. The North Kildare Bowls Club is also committed to giving back to the community through annual fundraisers. In October bank holiday, the club raised €2550 for Parkinson's, showing their dedication to the community.

The sport of lawn bowls may not be as popular as it once was, but the North Kildare Bowls Club is working hard to change that. With its beautiful facilities, friendly community of members, opportunities for league play and tournaments and its commitment to giving back.

If you are looking for a way to stay active, make new friends and be part of a community that cares, North Kildare Bowls Club is the place for you. People can contact our secretary via our website northkildarebowlsclub.org or via email at northkildarebowls@gmail.com, and we will be happy to assist you with any information or questions you may have.

Vampires? Nope, just bowlers

The meaning of vampire is the reanimated body of a dead person believed to come from the grave at night and suck the blood of persons asleep.

Recently a few of the North Kildare bowlers braved the cold to play late into the evening. Apparently they had a bowl

(see what I did there?)
