Penalty shoot-out heartbreak for Golspie Stafford in Highland Amateur Cup

GOLSPIE Stafford have been knocked out of the Highland Amateur Cup after losing to Clachnacuddin Reserves on penalties in Inverness.

In an epic encounter at Grant Street Park, the two teams were level at 4-4 at full time.

The North West Sutherland champions took the lead in extra time before an own goal forced a shoot-out which Clach came out on top in.

Golspie Stafford were the last Sutherland team remaining in the competition.

They will now face Ross-shire heavyweights Avoch in the semi final after they defeated Loch Ness 1-0 at Coronation Park last weekend.

The semi final is scheduled to be played on Saturday, August 5 at a neutral venue to be confirmed.

In the other semi final, Wick Groats will face the winners of Stromness Athletic and Lerwick Spurs who meet in the final quarter final in Orkney on Saturday afternoon.
