A ‘SEX PISTEOLS’ Moray trio rocked the opposition to win the Scottish triples title in the sport of petanque.
Fochabers club members Lynn Jenkins, Shirley Legge and Richard Carter came out on top in the 15-team event at Perth Petanque Club on Sunday.
The Moray outfit, who took their name from the ‘piste’, or playing field used in their sport, won all six of their games to claim the silverware.
Fochabers have now gained an impressive collection of trophies this year, and will have three teams competing in next weekend’s Scottish Masters at Inverleith Petanque Club in Edinburgh.
The Moray teams will take on nine other squads over a two-day competition, with six games on September 13 and five more the following day, and all teams playing each other once.
The incentive for the winning male team is the right to represent Scotland at the European Championships in Bulgaria next year. Similarly for the women, next week’s winners will form the Scotland team taking part in the World Championships in Slovakia.
Later this month (September 23), Fochabers will be represented in the Scotland womens’ team heading to Turkey for the European Championships.
