Easter in Romford & Beyond

Easter is on the horizon and it's great to be looking forward to a holiday period. There are so many events running in and around the Romford area - many more than are listed in this article so please do check out our website for a full guide to EVERYTHING that's on over the holidays.

Remember a lot of events will require you to prebook. Use the links to guide you to more information.

Holiday Clubs

Tennis Camp for ages 4-16 years at Hylands with full or half day options.

Check out The Outdoors Project - Havering where kids can make their own mini egg fudge and toast marshmallows and teacakes on the camp fire!

Sports Activities

There are lots of sports activities available to book via the Havering Active website. Check it out here!

There are lots of tennis activities running at various clubs. Hylands Club mentioned above, Gidea Park Lawn Tennis Club and also a range of tennis sessions available to book at the courts in our local parks.

Days Out

Easter Weekend at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary 30th & 31st March
This local animal sanctuary is opening it's doors again for the season and looking forward to welcoming everyone back. As always they have a whole host of activities and fun planned for the weekend. Make sure you prebook your ticket!

Easter at Lathcoat's Farm 23rd March - 13th April (closed Sundays)
Follow the Easter Trail and work out the winning word - cheaper to book online in advance!

Let's Go Outside!

Essex Wildlife Trust - so many events are planned at several local venues. Check them out and book via the EWT website.

Inflatables at the Park
The usual selection of inflatables running at Raphael's, Upminster and Harrow Lodge Parks. Check out this link for dates and to book.

Meet the Easter Bunny at Thames Chase 29th - 30th March
Easter crafts and get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny - and why not make the most of the spring weather (hopefully sunny) to explore Thames Chase while you are there! 

Grange Farm Nature Tots Easter Fun
Bring toddlers and pre-schoolers to Chigwell Meadows for some fun in the outdoors - dress for the weather!

Easter Egg Hunt with Bertie The Bunny at Epping Ongar Railway 29th March - 1stApril
Always popular with the little kids AND the bigger kids! Who doesn't love a steam engine. 

Easter Egg-stravaganza! 23rd & 24th March
If you are popping into Romford then visit The Mercury Mall and you'll find lots of Easter themed activities for the kids on Level 1. Just £2 per person

Easter Adventures at Rainham Hall 28th March - 1st April
There are ten Easter themed activities hidden all around the garden. Don't miss Bunny Hop Racing, Welly Wanging and Hopscotch - Just £3 per participant.

Easter Egg Hunt at Valence House 30th March - 13th April (closed Friday, Sunday & Monday)
This one is FREE! We all love a freebie and Valance House are always running lovely activities for kids in the holidays. Check it out.

Easter Egg Hunt on the Pier  29th March - 1st April
Fancy a trip to the seaside? Southend has more to offer than a day of sandcastles! Visit the historic pier with its own railway and take part in their Easter egg hunt. A cheap and cheerful day out at just £2.50 per child.

Running Day at North Weald & District Miniature Railway  2nd April
A great little railway with something new to see every time you visit. Its a cheap and cheerful outing and fun for everyone. £2 per person

Family Open Day at Ilford and West Essex Model Railway Club  7th April
This is a must for miniature railway enthusiasts. There is a short ride on their miniature railway and then lots of model railways to see inside. Turn down the steps right next to the entrance to Chadwell Heath Station.

Pet's Corner Harlow
There are lots of events going on over the holidays including keeper talks, meet the lambs and Easter crafts. For full details of dates and times check out their Facebook page

FREE Family Entry to Havering Museum 3rd-6th, 10th-13th April
If you haven't visited your local museum this is the perfect opportunity. Pop along and see what they have to share!

Learn the art of decoupage at one of the many events on at Fairkytes - booking is essential as places very limited!

Crafty Wednesday at Thames Chase 3rd & 10th April
Choose from 4 different crafts: Quilling, book mark making, spring crowns and butterfly wing creations - call the centre to book!

5 Things Under a Fiver! (watch out for car parking fees!)

  • Harlow Pets Corner - free but they do appreciate donations
  • Stubbers Adventure Centre - It's not expensive, you can take a picnic or visit their cafe and there are options to pay for extra activities of you choose to. The play area is open to all and there is a mini beach area and a nature trail.
  • Foxburrows Farm at Hainault Country Park - free but £1 donation per child or £2 per adult suggested
  • Sculpture Trails - Why not do one of the many trails around Romford - or all of them! We have The Gruffalo Trail, Wind in the Willows Trail, Peter Rabbit Trail and Brambly Hedge Sculpture Trail. You'll find the details in our Out & About section
  • Premier Cinema - just £3.50 all day every day per person

The Big Ticket Days Out

There are the usual big ticket days out running at local open farms. I don't often include these in our guide as they can be more expensive for families to visit. At this time of year its so exciting with new baby animals being born and there is always so much to see so do check out:

We all know that being out and about constantly is both exhausting and expensive, and many of us will be working during the holidays, so it's only natural that we will have a few days at home during the school holidays.
