A mixed bag again this week spanning over 100 years of photos with memories of Seale Hayne fun-filled annual rag weeks, Newton Abbot swimming and rugby clubs and there’s even a mystery picture too!

Nerves of steel were required for students braving the down-hill race at Seale Hayne during the college’s Rag Week in February 1999. The time-trials featured students in all manner of wheeled-contraptions attempting the course which ran down the steep and twisting road from the top of the campus down to the entrance. The only proviso was that brakes were not permitted. No doubt the HSE would be wagging their collective fingers nowadays and tutting loudly.

And finally, the mystery picture. It was discovered in a tattered envelope in a folder of discarded 1970s prints - a year which it looks like it pre-dates. We’ve no details as to where these fine gentlemen were or indeed who they are. Or for that matter why they’re reading broadsheet editions of the Mid-Devon Advertiser in distinctly foreign climes.
