Marysville’s boys wrestling program claimed a road victory after surpassing Dublin Jerome, 53-15, in a dual meet.
“I think that come Olentangy Berlin and Olentangy, a dual meet like this will reinforce what we need,” MHS Head Coach Nate Andrews said adding the Monarchs collected seven pins compared the DJ’s one. “There was a big difference in points there.”
As the winter wind chilled the outside air, the burning desire for another divisional crown stays strong for Marysville. The Monarchs remain unbeaten in the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Cardinal Division following the match Thursday night.
“We wrestled well which got us a lot of pins and a lot of wins,” Marysville’s Erick Nelson said after the match.

“It feels good,” Nelson said about the team’s 2-0 standing in the division. “I am just looking forward to winning this next dual and being a four-time OCC champ.”
The Monarchs will resume the OCC tour Thursday, Jan. 25, as the crew travels to Thomas Worthington. The Cardinals are 0-2 in Cardinal Division dual meets falling to Olentangy and Dublin Jerome (37-27).
“I think our schedule is set pretty right in that our toughest dual meet will be at the end,” Andrews said.
Marysville’s last OCC Cardinal Division dual meet is slated for Thursday, Feb. 15, against Olentangy.
Examining the matches that Marysville did not look favorable in, Andrews and the rest of his coaching staff will address corrections in the room moving forward.
“In the four matches we lost, three of them were probably against the better wrestler,” he said complimenting the Celtic competitors. “One of the matches, we looked fatigued and that is a winnable match. We just couldn’t finish the third period.”
“We need to work on bottom and standing up and not giving up in the third period,” Nelson added.
