The 2013 Main Line high school girls’ lacrosse season provided the two finalists for both the PIAA state championship game (Harriton, Radnor) and the PAISSA title game (Episcopal Academy, Friends’ Central), plus a dozen players who made All-American status.

A sizable number of Main Line high school girls’ lacrosse teams enjoyed successful, winning seasons, including (in alphabetical order) Academy of Notre Dame, Agnes Irwin, Archbishop Carroll (won 13th straight Catholic League title), Barrack Hebrew Academy, Conestoga, Episcopal Academy (won third consecutive PAISSA title, captured ninth straight Inter-Ac title), Friends’ Central (was PAISSA finalist and won fourth consecutive Friends Schools League title), Harriton (PIAA state champion), Haverford, Lower Merion, Merion Mercy Academy, Radnor (PIAA state finalist) and Villa Maria Academy.

Five of the top 10 high school girls’ lacrosse teams were on the Main Line, according to Laxpower.com – PIAA state champion Harriton (first), Radnor (second), Conestoga (seventh), Episcopal Academy (eighth) and Friends’ Central (10th).

Six more Main Line teams were in the top 30 (out of 124 teams listed), including Archbishop Carroll (14th), Academy of Notre Dame (16th),Merion Mercy (21st), Agnes Irwin (22nd), Haverford (29th) and Lower Merion (30th).

The All-Main Line high school girls’ lacrosse teams are selected by the coaches. Because Main Line Media News covers 19 high schools, the Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of spots available to first team, second team and honorable mention – but follows the priority of coaches’ selections.

What follows are the 2013 All-Main Line high school girls’ lacrosse teams:

FIRST TEAM

Nora McCallion, Academy of Notre Dame – Senior attack was a prolific scorer and assist-maker for the Irish throughout her career, tallying more than 100 points for Notre Dame this season, and more than 300 for her ND career. A first team All-Inter-Ac selection, she will be playing lacrosse for St. Joseph’s University next spring.

Hannah Keating, Agnes Irwin – Freshman attack, a first team All-Inter-Ac selection, was a scoring machine for a successful, young Owl squad, tallying 77 goals in 22 games. An all-around talent, she led the Agnes Irwin team with 61 draw controls.

Taryn Deck, Archbishop Carroll – Senior attack/midfielder, the Catholic League MVP and a first team All-American and All-Delco pick, scored 75 goals in 22 games. Will play lacrosse for Dartmouth next spring.

Natalie Schmitt, Archbishop Carroll – Senior attack, a first team All-American and All-Delco pick, scored 62 goals in and dished out 27 assists in 22 games. Will play lacrosse for Penn State next spring.

Meghan McGillis, Conestoga – Senior midfielder and co-captain, a first team All-American, tallied 70 goals and 37 assists in 25 games, while causing 20 turnovers and winning 43 draw controls. A first team All-Central League pick, she tallied more than 250 career goals at Conestoga. Will play lacrosse for Ohio State next spring.

Blake Hamblett, Conestoga – Senior defensive midfielder and co-captain was a first team All-American and Academic All-American. The Dartmouth-bound Hamblett, a first team All-Central League pick, was the MVP of the Pioneers’ midfield, with 24 goals, 15 assists, 29 caused turnovers and 48 draw controls.

Lindsey Reder, Episcopal Academy – Senior goalie, who received All-American recognition as well as first team All-Delco and All-Inter Ac selection, was considered the backbone of the championship Churchwomen squad. The Boston College signee posted a .515 save percentage and 203 saves in 20 games.

Kristen Hinckley, Episcopal Academy – Senior defender received All-American recognition, tallying 53 goals, 14 assists, 44 ground balls and 38 draw controls in 20 games. An Academic All-American, she tallied five goals in the PAISSA title game. Will play lacrosse for Dartmouth next spring.

Emma Dahle, Friends’ Central – Junior midfielder and co-captain, a first team All-American selection, tallied 106 goals and dished out 62 assists in 22 games for the PAISSA finalists. Tallied her 200th career goal, and led the Phoenix in draw controls with 57. Considered a dynamic player who gets to goal even when face-guarded, she has verbally committed to Brown University.

Ashley Tedesco, Friends’ Central – Senior attack and co-captain, this three-time first team All-Friends’ School League selection was co-MVP of the PAISSA finalists, becoming the Phoenix’s all-time scorer with 256 goals and 251 assists. For the season, she tallied 74 goals and 67 assists in 22 games. The Lafayette-bound senior was a key contributor on the draw (36 DC’s) and in midfield transition.

Caleigh Foust, Harriton – Senior attack, a first team All-American for the second time as well as a two-time first team All-Central League selection, was considered the difference-maker for the PIAA state champions. Led the Rams with 95 goals in 27 games and finished her Harriton career with 276 goals. Tallied five goals in the PIAA state final, including the winning goal in overtime. An Academic All-American, she will be heading to University of Virginia to play field hockey.

Sabrina Tabasso, Harriton – Junior midfielder, a first team All-American selection, was a first team All-Central League selection as well. Scored 48 goals and dished out 49 assists while excelling on draw controls and in transition for the state champions. Was voted the outstanding offensive player for the state champion Rams, and finished the season with 101 career goals.

Melina Avery, Harriton – Junior goalie received All-American recognition and All-Central League honors. Was considered exceptional in big games, recording nine saves in the PIAA state final, an 8-7 win against Radnor, including a save on an 8-meter shot with 28 seconds left in a tie game. Received the Rams’ Defensive Player of the Year award.

Amanda Case, Haverford High – Senior midfielder and co-captain, a first team All-Central League pick, was the Fords’ MVP, an all-around player and a valued leader, tallying 70 goals in 19 games, dishing out 20 assists, winning 33 draw controls, collecting 46 ground balls and forcing 16 turnovers. Will be headed to Lafayette College.

Kiersten Daly, Lower Merion – Senior co-captain and center, a first team All-Central League pick, was the Aces’ MVP, scoring 90 goals in 18 games and winning 65 draw controls.

Julianne D’Orazio, Merion Mercy Academy – Senior midfielder and co-captain, a first team All-American, tallied 67 goals and 37 assists and was MVP for the Golden Bears, who won 18 of 22 contests. Will play lacrosse for Lehigh University next spring.

Shannon Quinn, Radnor – Senior attack, a first team All-Delco and All-Central League selection, tallied 77 goals in 25 games and dished out 18 assists as well. The William & Mary signee tallied 30 goals in the postseason to help boost the Red Raiders into the PIAA state final.

Taylor Quinn, Radnor – Senior midfielder received All-American recognition and was a first team All-Central League selection as well. The Columbia University-bound Quinn is noted for her exceptional ability to anticipate plays and be in the right place at the right time.

Abby Junior, Radnor – Senior defender and captain has been one of the leading players in the Central League the past two years. The William & Mary-bound senior’s stellar defense played a big factor in the Red Raiders advancing all the way to the PIAA state title game this spring.

Catherine Bendinelli, Villa Maria Academy – Senior attacker was both the Hurricanes’ top offensive player and an AACA all-star for the second year in a row. An Academic All-American as a junior, she broke the 100 career goal mark this season. Will play lacrosse for Villanova University next spring.

SECOND TEAM

Academy of Notre Dame – Delaney Tuite, senior attack/midfielder; Katie Schneider, junior midfielder; Courtney Donovan, senior midfielder.

Agnes Irwin – Laura Pansini, freshman midfielder; Bridget Chakey, junior; Kristen Burnetta, freshman.

Archbishop Carroll – Sophia Cuzzupe, junior goalie; Isabelle Schmitt, sophomore midfielder; Megan Santoleri, junior midfielder/defender.

Baldwin – Ali Thaler, sophomore attack/midfielder; Arden Simone, senior midfielder.

Barrack Hebrew Academy – Tamar Parmet, senior attack.

Conestoga – Catie Smith, senior midfielder; Mackenzie Orr, senior midfielder; Jessie Beer, senior defender; Maggie Friel, junior midfielder.

Episcopal Academy – MC Curran, senior midfielder; Meghan Hubley, senior defender; Taryn Gallagher, junior attack wing; Jane Crager, sophomore defense wing.

Friends’ Central – Maria Pizzini, senior defender; Aubrey Faggen, senior goalie; Kate Forrest, junior defensive midfielder; Sophie Macfarlane, sophomore midfielder.

Harriton – Hilary Lemonick, junior defender/midfielder; Katie Melvin, junior midfielder/attacker; Jane Henderson, sophomore midfielder.

Haverford High – Olivia Martin, senior midfielder; Mairead Janzer, sophomore midfielder.

Lower Merion – Lindsey Grabell, senior midfielder.

Merion Mercy Academy – Caroline Corzel, sophomore attack; Olivia Nostrant, junior midfielder.

Radnor – Lyndsey Britton, senior defender; Brooke Pancoast, senior midfielder; Grace Collins, senior goalie.
