Netball round-up: Five awards for Windsor Netball Club - after only a year

Windsor Netball Club enjoyed a tremendous night at the Berkshire Netball Awards on Friday, winning five awards for volunteers, coaches and players.

Given that the club was only formed less than a year ago it was a remarkable achievement.

The awards evening was held at the Blue Mountain Golf Club, and more than 600 people attended, including international players and senior representatives from England Netball.

Head coach Brenda Pope received a ‘contribution to netball in the community’ award. Karen Mullins was named ‘volunteer of the year’ and a long service award went to Sam Smith.

Then two of the club’s junior players Molly Horler and Katie Davies received coaches’ recognition awards.

The u12s were also nominated for team of the year.

Reflecting on the club’s success, club coach Clare Roe, who was also

shortlisted for senior coach of the year, said: “We’re so proud that Windsor Netball Club has been recognised in this way by the netball community in Berkshire.

“At the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of enthusiastic mums and dads who have created a new club to provide the opportunity for girls of all ages to enjoy netball.”
