The cream of the country's punting talent took to the River Thames near Maidenhead yesterday.
The Thames Punting Club had organised the event which was staged near Brunel's famous railway bridge in River Road, Taplow.
Four out of the Thames' six punting clubs were represented.
The three quarters of a mile men's championship was won by Bruce Maidment from Thames Valley Club at Walton-on-Thames. While Natalie Maclean from Dittons Skiff and Punt Club in Thames Ditton won the ladies' championship which covered half a mile.
The event has been running since 1886, at Maidenhead for the first time in 1891 - although that became its regular venue in 1986.
The other two clubs competing on Sunday were the Wraysbury club which is based at Runnymede and the Wargrave club.
Other doubles competitions held during the day kept lookers-on riveted and the day was a great success with ideal weather conditions adding to the atmosphere.
