Slough CC on the up after weekend win against High Wycombe CC

Bobby Sher

Slough CC skipper Bobby Sher said his side was 'looking upwards' after securing its third win in four against High Wycombe on Saturday.

Sher's side are third in the Home Counties Premier Division table after chasing down Wycombe's score of 194-9 to win the match with figures of 195-7, in 41 overs.

Sher, who top scored for Slough with 50 not out, said the players would work hard to maintain the team's momentum. He added that everyone was now contributing to the side's good run of form.

"At the start of the season we had just a couple of guys playing well, and now the whole team seems to be playing well, said Sher.

"It's much more of an all round effort."

Slough are just two points behind second-placed Tring Park (170), with seven league matches remaining.

Wycombe's final batting pair frustrated Slough putting on a last wicket stand of 60 to take the visitors to 194, but Sher was confident his team would chase down any score under 200.

Zulfiqar Butt took three wickets for Slough.

"It was frustrating that we couldn't get them out," said Sher.

"But we looked at the pitch before the game and thought if we can get them out for under 200 that would be good, and so it proved.

"We lost a few wickets but got there quite comfortably," added the skipper.

Slough eased to their target in 41 overs with Sher (50no), Nabeel Shah (49) and Shaan Khan (39) the main run scorers.

Sher added that his side would now have to work even harder for points, with teams at the bottom scrapping for points.

He said: "Momentum is key now and if anything well have to work even harder to get every point because teams will be scraping for everything, so we must keep up the pressure."
