Wraysbury Cricket Club enjoyed a triumphant first season in the Thames Valley Cricket League as both their 1sts and 2nds were title winners.

Following a move from the Chilterns League, Wraysbury 1sts were dominant in Division 4B, going through the season undefeated and finishing with a nine-wicket victory over Cookham Dean 2nds on Saturday.

Wraysbury 2nds, in Division 6A, faced a must-win clash away to Farnham Royal 2nds.

Wraysbury won by 58 runs, thanks to a century from club chairman Gordon Morgan and 5-25 from Asim Ibrahim.

A proud Morgan said: “It’s a new chapter for us now playing in the Thames Valley League and we are delighted with the way things have gone for both our senior teams.

“We feel very much at home here and look forward to progressing further.

“It’s a reward for all the hard work from all at the club.”

Wraysbury prepared for the new season with their first international cricket tour to Malta, proving important team bonding.

The club’s success can also be found in the colts section with the under-13s remaining unbeaten in winning Berkshire Youth Cricket League Division 2 East.
