Top 5

  1. Alberta Seniors staff will be onsite at Unison at Kerby Centre to work with seniors to get more seniors using their on-line applications for benefits (ASB).

  2. Alberta Healthy Communities Symposium Attendance: Our Thrive and Active Aging programs represented Unison at the Alberta Healthy Communities Symposium event in Edmonton, attending informative sessions that are sure to enhance our organization's knowledge and practices. The Alberta Healthy Communities Symposium, in partnership with Alberta Blue Cross, offered opportunities to network and build upon current community resources and programs while providing tangible ways to grow our community’s future.

  3. March for Meals, our Meals on Wheels Fundraising campaign raised $4,336 to sustain and grow our Meals on Wheels program. We had MOWgaritas & MOWjitos at the Keg, Moxies and Medicine Hat Brewing Company. We also had a Bottle Drive initiative for supporters to drop-off their recyclables.     During Champions Week (March 18th to 22nd), local officials, celebrities, and community leaders delivered meals, advocated for seniors and people with disabilities, and raised awareness for MOW. Special thanks to City of Medicine Hat Councilor Ramona Robins, Lisa, Brad, Tara, Kerry from the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce, Della Burkitt representing MLA Justin Wright, Mayor Linnsie Clark, and Melissa and Megan from Sun Valley Honda for being our Champions!

  4. Seniors joined us for an exhilarating trip to iFly indoor skydiving, where they had a blast and appreciated the adventurous choice. Our Unison Travel volunteer, Evelyn, was interviewed by CBC Radio about her experience at iFly, and she eloquently highlighted Unison's contribution to the lives of older adults.

  5. Seniors Safety Series in Unison at Medicine Hat: The 2023 Senior Safety Series hosted seven topics based on our Elder Abuse Program trends, averaging 25 participants per session.
