Kyla Yelverton announced as new #TuksTennis Student Head Coach By: Oarabile Diphoko

Kyla Yelverton has been announced as the new Tuks Tennis Student Head Coach, as reported on Thursday, 4 May 2023.

In 2013, Yelverton joined the Tuks Tennis Club as a student-athlete and later assumed the coaching role as an assistant coach, back in 2020.

Off the field the 29-year old is a Junior Research Officer in the Department of Information Science - Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at UP-Tuks. She is also currently pursuing her PhD.

Since joining as a club member and student-athlete, Yelverton has received USSA Colours in 2018 and 2019 and became a national beach tennis player representing South Africa at the Team World Championships in 2019, 2021 and in 2022.

Speaking on her appointment here is what she had to say:

"I feel privileged and excited to be taking up this position at TuksTennis. This is a natural step forward in my coaching and tennis career."

"No matter what you do in tennis, no matter what strategy or tactic you apply, if you know that you have practiced it a hundred times, and can apply this skill consistently, you will become confident in game and match play."

"The future is bright for young girls. I strongly advise young girls to give it their all, never give up, and fight to always beat the odds stacked up against them," she says.
