Great article looking at recovery strategies in elite football players.
Nice look at the micro cycle for recovering during one game and two game weeks.
In netball, we sometimes have 24hrs betweeen games, which is rare but does happen - a lot of these strategies, we implement in a compressed window to help get the squad ready for game two. #physio#performance#netball#football#recoveryLondon Pulse Netball Superleague Team

Super excited to be working at UNTIL in #marylebone from this week!
We are love at the venue and it’s amazing - already met some other practioners and had a great welcome from the team at Until.
Looking forward to the friends and family networking session tonight and then listening to Steven Bartlett give a talk on how to drive a successful business in health and wellness.
If you have patients to send me or need to be seen - email me tom.astley@taphysio.co.uk
I’ll be there Thursdays / Fridays and can be flexible.
The process of rehab for injury is a long and persistent road - the road to performance. . . It has many pitfalls along the way for both injured and non-injured athletes.
Over the years of working in sport, the keys elements that help athletes along their rehab journey are:
1. A clear plan with stages that are, ideally, layer out from the beginning - yes the plan might change but start with a plan and make it all the way through to their goal 🥅
2. Getting the right MDT - who’s needed, when are they needed, how frequently should the athlete see them, and make sure the athlete understands why it’s necessary
3. Clear communication - the setting out of the plan and getting buy-in from the athlete and MDT is key. The roles and responsibilities of each member of the MDT should also be layer out
4. Perseverance - along the rehab journey, something is going to happen that will divert the progress, work it out and move forward but stick to the overall plan!
5. Descision making - use all the information, data and opinion, to get the best outcome. You may need to innovate. You may need to ask more then one person for input.
6. Collaborate - it’s the only way to get the best for your athlete, no one person can do it all, and the athlete is the centre of the rehab - your job is to make the rehab process as smooth as possible to achieve the best outcome!

Super excited that I will working from UNTIL in the new #Marylebone facility from mid-November.
The new site is looking awesome and it’s super exciting to have a beautiful space for rehab and consulting - thank you to Seema Parmar for accepting me into the fold. A big thanks to Liam Rodgers for guiding me on the application process.
The feedback about Until from therapists that I respect, such as Charlie Goodchild, Rob Madden, & Matt Murray-Downing has been excellent - great to see a great community of therapists coming together.
I’ll initially start with a half day in Marylebone site and hope to build it up over 6 months.
Referrals and collaborations is what I’m hoping for - hit me up if you’re in Marylebone area and wnat coffee ☕️

A follow on from Rushabh Savla - a great clinic leader, physio and friend:
Some thoughts from my experience in private practice:
1. Good point and it shouldn’t be taken personally, it’s a natural progression in many ways and often hard earnt!
2. Only few can be leaders and we, as business owners, shouldn’t expect everyone to be a leader.
3. WIIFM is important for practioners and patients - needs to to form part of the initial meetings / consultations!
4. Boundaries are also important in expectations - avoid that burn out
5. Sometimes you can lead a horse to water.. water 💧 🐴
6. An addition from me, and still do this now and I’m trying not to, don’t compare yourself to others! Especially when logging into here and seeing everyone’s achievements…

Sunday Musings as I log in to Linkedin -
1. Every healthcare business owner has a 2-4 year window with most of their team members - it's cyclic. Your current team will adapt & move on. Don't get bogged down by that.
2. Understand that some pathways that are created within the business require a special type of dedication. Not everyone is born to do that.
3. 'What's in it for me' - a healthy attitude when practiced with gratitude.
4. Set expectations from the get go - it's where we see most in the profession fail.
5. Advice you may have dispensed early on (social media presence, engaging with community, developing your niche, giving back) may fall on deaf ears, eventually they all realise this is where it's at.
A great rehab story of a complex tibial plateau fracture - awesome work from Jay Chitre who’s been working hard to make sure rehab went to plan.
Shared with consent.
Jay’s client is a case of traumatic injury to the right shin bone. He underwent a surgical operation (Intra-medullary nail) and came to TA physio after his discharge from the hospital.
It has been a great pleasure to assist him in his rehab and ensuring his smooth and successful return to pre-injury status.
Thank you for your kind words!

Apologises for the radio silence post-season, been having a little down time and recovery -
The weekend saw Laura Fornoni & Jay Chitre from clinic alongside Hiba Ansari supporting London Pulse Netball Super League Team in the NPL tournament.
The tournament is run by England Netball for U17, 19, and 21s. Our role was purely to support those athletes at this 4 day event in University of Nottingham.
The therapists worked hard to supply injury management, recovery strategies between days that included soft tissue work, mobility and manual work, when needed.
A great effort from all teams saw the U19 triumph with a 🥇, the U17 cam runners-up 🥈and yhr U21 came 5th.
In the face of injuries, the team provided top care to developing athletes and acted swiftly to make arrangements for those that unfortunately got injured.
Well done Laura, Jay and Hiba.
