A personal post and something I`ve not tried before. Cliffe cricket club, who I`m very proud to be Secretary of, are looking for match ball sponsors for the 2024 season (if it ever stops raining!). This wonderfully friendly grass-roots club, is situated in a magnificent rural location, at the top of North Yorkshire and it takes several thousand pounds each year, just to keep the club going. On a sunny day, with a post match pint looming, there really is no finer place to play or watch our national summer game! I fully appreciate that companies only have a small amount each year to give to charities, sports clubs etc, but if any LinkedIn connections feel able to help, sponsorship starts from as little as £25 for a match ball. We`d be happy to promote you and your business in anyway we can and you`d also be linking up with a club that won a couple of competitions in 2023. More details are on our website - https://lnkd.in/eNQqAn4b I`d be happy to speak to any connection who may be able to offer some assistance. Please send me a message, if you feel you could help. Many thanks in anticipation. Richard

Now that Sam is rowing solo....how much longer is it going to take?! 🤔 • This is a question we're being asked a lot, and the answer is "It's complicated!" 😬 • Weather plays a massive part in this; winds play the biggest part, but waves, temperature, currents, will all affect him. With favourable winds he'll be flying along, surfing down the face of giant Atlantic rollers and making his merry way to Antigua. With unfavourable winds, no matter how hard he rows, he could spend days going backwards. 😱 • A big thing soloists have to deal with is time spent not rowing. In any other sized crew, when you are asleep, someone else is rowing...but for Sam he will have to drift during his sleeping hours and this slows things down. 😴 • In last years race there were six soloists, three men, three women. The fastest crossing was 46 days (a race record for a solo in an R25 boat, the same type Sam has), but the slowest crossing was a gruelling 113 days! 🤯 • So, we don't know; 50-70 days is a good range in the kind of boat Sam has, but if the weather doesn't play ball it wouldn't matter if he had the muscle power of Hercules himself! Part of this experience is learning to accept that the ocean is more powerful than anyone, and you progress only when it allows. 🔱 • Sam is rowing to raise money for UnLtd - sponsorship opportunities are still available, please get in touch today, either by e-mailing sam@entrepreneurship2023.co.uk or messaging us on social media. 👍 • Online charitable donations can be made at https://lnkd.in/ea2QSgst 🌐 • #TES2023 #atlantic2023 #worldstoughestrow #theentrepreneurship #theentrepreneurship2023 #oceanrowers #oceanrowing #adventure #voyage #unltd #socialentrepreneurs #charity #fundraising #solo

Should footballers be on LinkedIn? 🤔⚽️ (Same goes for all sportspeople) I’ve worked with footballers that want to: - Grow their socials - Partner with new brands - Promote their business - Share their charity work - Attract new opportunities Because: - Football is a short career - They play lower league football and need other ways to make money - Nothing is guaranteed in sport If they have a purpose for being on here that suits the audience, then it will attract opportunites away from the pitch to help future proof their careers As long as the audience you want to speak to is there, any platform is worthwhile 🎯 #sportmarketing #sportbiz #personalbranding

In 2015, I entered a white-collar boxing fight for charity, and I spent the next three months training hard for it. 🥊 Although I eventually lost, I still felt a huge sense of achievement and satisfaction for having done it. I loved the challenge of stepping into the ring. There are a lot of parallels between fitness and running an estate agency. No matter how scared you are or how difficult a conversation might be, you need to just do it. You need to step into the ring once in a while That’s what it means to truly become a challenger. So, how do you create the resilience that enables you to challenge? It’s all in “How To Build A Smarter, Faster, Better Estate Agency Business.” It’s a series of all the practical lessons, tips, and business secrets every local agency needs to become a challenger. A challenging and high value fundraising appeal.
My organisation Freestyle Bristol CIC is today launching a fundraising appeal for our weekly project aimed at young men Football Fridays. Our goal is the £15,000 cost of providing the session over year, a sum which covers the pitch hire & staffing. This might be considered a large sum but we provide these facilities for a large number of young men who can access a positive & healthy activity and an alternative to hanging around the streets on a Friday night. At a time when the media is full of stories about young people and antisocial behaviour & Street crime, I'm a massive believer in the idea that society need to be more proactive and invest in offering solutions and alternatives like this in tackling the issues. This was brought home to me again over the summer when I young person I had worked with when I started in youth work and had watched grow into a man was tragically stabbed to death by other young men. Going back to that £15,000 target. Two years ago I wrote an article for The Bristol Cable that highlighted the cost of youth crime and pointed out that keeping one young person behind bars costs us £76000 per annum. What we are trying to raise is quite simply 20% of this sum. If you think you could help us help young men in Bristol, please donate and share the appeal with ours. https://lnkd.in/eq53HSFN

The Rugby World Cup France 2023 is over. For some there is the ecstasy and joy of winning. For others the pain and misery of losing. That is the nature of sport. When you set goals and targets in sport, or indeed, in business you will either achieve or you will fall short. It's how you react when you fall short of your goals that defines you? Do you just accept defeat? Or do you reflect, consider, plan and go again? Whatever goals you are working towards - personally or in business - ask yourself - have I a plan? Am I flexible and adaptable so I can deal with anything unforseen? Who is supporting me? (Do you have that trusted friend and advisor who can give you a neutral perspective?) Have I considered my reaction if it goes wrong? One of my goals for is to run the Tata Consultancy Services #londonmarathon2024 that's going to be a tough gig. I have to plan my training. I have to give up some stuff in order to train properly. That means knocking playing rugby on the head - I can't afford a broken leg! I have a good group of friends around me encouraging my training, including some who have run marathons before. Of course the real goal is not the marathon. It's actually "Why am I running a marathon?" (see Simon Sinek - Start with Why for some insights into businesses where this question is first on the goal setting list) I am running for Wooden Spoon Charity , the children's charity of rugby to help fund projects from sensory rooms to play areas for vulnerable and disadvantaged children. Why? Because every child deserves the chance to set and meet their own goals. I'd be grateful if you could motivate me some more by sponsoring me. If you are a business owner and would like to have your name on my running shirt then please DM me for more information. https://lnkd.in/eC6ThyRW

2Excel Aviation has made a donation from its Community Fund to STAMFORD RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED towards the construction of a new clubhouse that aspires to become a hub for local sports and recreation. The club wants to replace its current outdated facility with a modern, purpose built one to provide a venue for the local community that can offer somewhere fit for potential uses beyond rugby alone. Chris Norton, Director and Co-founder of 2Excel Aviation, said: “As an employee-owned business, building value for all our stakeholders is not just monetary. “Our organisation’s Social Value approach commits us to enhance the experience of everyone and everything our business interacts with, including people, other businesses, suppliers, local communities, and the environment. “Through our Community Fund we are able to provide Stamford RUFC with a donation towards the creation of an asset that will enrich the lives of its local community, which also includes some of our employees.” Jai Nairn, Club President at Stamford RUFC, said: “We are very grateful to 2Excel for its generous donation towards realising our dream. “Our plan is to create a venue that not only complies with Sport England and RFU requirements but can also be offered for other sporting disciplines which our current premises can’t accommodate. “Research with people in the local area tells us that the community wants somewhere for other sport and exercise, and for groups for art or music; a space for people of all ages to meet and socialise. “Using locally sourced materials, incorporating a sustainable energy system, and creating a fit-for-purpose car park, we envisage the new facility will be of great benefit to the local area as a whole.” For more information about the club, and the plans for the new clubhouse, https://lnkd.in/eMVH-mHG

For $ale: My dumb-ash golf clubs. If you are a GenX woman, you were advised at some point to pick up golf to be able to network. Okay, I was game. I am competitive! I'm a scrappy inner-city girl. Why not?! Well, after taking golf lesson after golf lesson, going to driving ranges at lunch with bosses, having men tell me what I was doing wrong and offering to show me by standing on top of me, investing in the "outfits" and the charity tournament fees, I truly just hated it. I hated everything it represented: privilege, leisure time, money, exclusivity. And I hated the sentiment that doing a sport well would make me better able to do my JOB. So, my clubs are for shale. Ladies left-handed. Not the actual photo of my clubs but, you get the picture. PS - you CAN network well without playing golf, without leisure time, privilege, money or exclusivity. All you need? A simple plan. #networking #womeninbusiness #jobhunt

Clubs are donated back proceeds from your purchase from Play Aussie USA which in-turn provides much needed funding and allows clubs to expand their club brand all over the USA and as far away as into Australia. Receive gear in a few days (2-5 days in the USA, (14-21 days in Australia) as most are in stock and ready to go, or you can customize guernseys like just most teams do these days with your own number and in some cases there is room for a name or nickname. A Game-Changer in Business and Charity Networking Undoubtedly, the importance of golf in the business world cannot be overstated. The sport offers a broad platform for networking – or “golf networking” as we like to call it – allowing people to make meaningful connections. Four hours of golf can reveal a lot more about someone than countless meetings. You can tell a person's character, their approach to the rules, and their emotional management simply by observing their behavior on the course. Furthermore, golf's influence is not limited to business circles. That about values, virtues and purpose. Even sport can be an effective catalyst for positive change. That about values, virtues and purpose. 2023 Annual Canada-Ukraine Chamber Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce of Commerce Golf Tournament with purpose to donate to Unite With Ukraine for purchase of protective equipment for Ukrainian men and women protecting their land against russian aggressor. Even sport can be an effective catalyst for positive change. Last but not least, teamwork.
