AND THEN INJURY STRIKES... ...and it can really get you down. Sport is my favourite thing to do. I love running, swimming, badminton and korfball - it dominates my evenings and weekends. My friendship groups are massively integrated with sport teams too. A few weeks ago, I injured my glute playing badminton (well tendon in that area). I lunged and due to a horribly slippy floor, my foot kept going. I heard and felt the injury instantly and it was painful. I'm still resting it and know that it will need at least 4-6 more weeks until it is recovered enough to do get back to running properly. Timing isn't great either as it is London marathon next month and I was 10 weeks into my training plan :(. (Have no choice but to defer now) Over the last couple of weeks, there are times that I can feel my mood dropping as I massively miss the benefits gained from playing sport: > Stress relief > Socialising > Sense of achievement ... and many more. However, I am fortunate to have a brilliant group of people around me who are keeping my morale up. The Marketing Run Club have been an amzing friendship group with lots of chat to keep me engaged and part of the community. I've been able to go down and support my teamies at badminton from the sidelines and also cheer friends on who are in races (with my pan and wooden spoon)! Being part of a community and having that around me definitely keeps my sunshine levels up! And I simply want to say THANK YOU to the amazing people I know who keep me amused, especially whilst this silly injury heals! Pic is after a race and my face shows the genuine love I have for playing sport. #injury #sports #community #amazingfriends #thankyou

Sorry to hear you’re injuried atm 😅 I know that feeling myself. I’ve had an injury on my knee for almost 3 months and now I’m just starting to jog. Hopefully you’ll recover soon. Do you know how long will the recovery take? 🙏

Aww Jen, sorry to hear that. I've done something similar in the past with a glute muscle and it's so frustrating! You'll be back up and running in no time, I'm sure 🤞

Oh nothing worse for a runner than injury. It's sensible to rest though - as frustrating as it is. Are you swimming or doing anything else whilst recovering?

Sounds like a real pain in the ass. Get better soon.

Oh Jennifer! So sorry to hear this. Whilst my exercise of choice isn't quite as extreme, I know how awful it is to be injured and have to sit it out. Sounds like you're being sensible though, which will help recovery no end!
