NIPSS Diary (1): ‘Learning from Experience’ - My Essence and Purpose at NIPSS
"Experience is the best teacher; however, it becomes very expensive if you have to learn from your own experiences all the time." ~ Mr. Alex Goma
This profound statement, made by Mr. Alex during a session on "Resource Imperatives for Policy Implementation," aptly summarizes my purpose and essence in attending the Policy, Strategy, and Leadership Course at Nigeria's foremost policy research institute and think tank.
My participation in this program constitutes an outlier situation, as I am by far the youngest in our cohort, and perhaps ever to have participated in the program. This privilege affords me the rare opportunity to learn from the experiences of the highly resourceful facilitators and my fellow participants, who are of diverse expertise and mostly executives of middle to top-levels in both the public and private sectors.
And so I shall, by the grace of Allah, for God and country. As I continue on this journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning; I shall strive to periodically share experiences and insights gained from the course in subsequent episodes of my NIPSS Diary. Keep a date 😊✌🏾
